‘Madison’ judged Champion of Show

There was nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the exhibitors or the vitality of their exhibits at the annual Dog Show at Birdhill which attracted entries from a wide area.

The weeping clouds forced use of the usual outdoor showing ring to parade the dogs as they showed themselves off to the judge, to be abandoned in favour of sheltered indoor environs, but nothing prevented the owners from showing off their meticulously groomed, and very well behaved, dogs at their best.

They came in all sizes and colours, the pride and joy of their owners, to vie for the honours in several classes to be judged.

At the end of the deliberations the most coveted award of the day, the honour of Champion of Show was awarded to Sally Anne Cheasley's Sheltie, 'Madison', already proud winner of the 'Best Golden Oldie' title from the earlier class awards.

They had come from near and far to compete with Joe Bergin, travelling from Shinrone with his Jack Russell 'Holly' winner of the class for the Best Rescue Dog.
