Bt young scientist award for borrisoleigh

St Joseph's College, Borrisoleigh won first place in the Intermediate Technology category at the BT Young Scientist awards in the RDS last week.

St Joseph's project was titled 'You’ve Got Mail!'. The school team of John Ryan, Ciara Ryan (both from Borrisoleigh) and Jack O'Meara from Loughmore developed a device that ends worthless journeys to the post-box. It sends a text to the householder on arrival of post.
The team had up to three devices working on the display, two powered by electricity and the other device was operated by solar panel. They also had to do a visual display, a detailed report book and a progress journal of each day's work.
