Eleven years on from its contemporary establishment, last Saturday saw Ballina Camogie Club reach a new milestone in its evolution, overcoming a hotly-fancied Éire-Óg Annacarty side to capture their first County Minor 'A' Championship title.

With annals that stretch back to both the 1940’s and the 1970’s, each of which witnessed earlier versions of the club, this third era has seen it become embedded in the community, growing year on year.

All that said, the celebrations were very nearly scuppered moments from time, after Annacarty full-forward Rosanna O’Donnell made an unstoppable burst through the Ballina defence before blasting to the net. That reduced the margin to one point and increased the tension to boiling point, leaving Ballina to just about cling on in a helter-skelter finale.
