Three late, late points from Kilruane McDonaghs helped them overturn a deficit in the final minutes of added time to clinch the North Minor ‘B’ title on Sunday afternoon, from a Silvermines team who looked as though they had done enough to see out the win.

A late burst of scores was the key deciding factor in the final minutes, with Devlin Courtney’s strike in the fourth minute of added time proving to be the winner, with the aid of the inside of the post to clinch the narrowest of wins for his side.

This game won’t be remembered as a classic but it certainly gripped spectators from start to finish, as both teams were very evenly matched with no more than two points separating the sides throughout the hour.

Effort certainly made up for the lack of free-flowing hurling from both sides and it did lead to an enthralling encounter, despite both sides struggling with the blustery conditions.
