Public urged to give blood

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) has officially launched a brand-new online booking facility for first-time donors at www.giveblood.ie.

While existing regular donors have enjoyed online booking for some time, this is a huge milestone for new donors, making it easier and faster than ever for first-timers to step up and book their first life-saving appointment online. Appointments can, of course, still be booked over the phone by calling 1800 222111.

While many of us are enjoying summer getaways, day trips, and time with family, patients in our local hospitals do not get a break from needing life-saving blood. Every single day across Ireland, individuals undergoing cancer treatment, major surgeries, emergency procedures, and care for blood disorders depend on the generosity of blood donors. Their needs continue regardless of the season.

The next clinic in Tipp takes place at the Ballykisteen Hotel in Limerick Junction from Tuesday to Thursday, September 1 to 3, from 4.50pm – 8.10pm. New donors welcome at all clinics.
