World Taekwondo Association
Eigth students traveled to Seoul, South Korea, last month to take part in the World Taekwondo ChungDoKwan training camp and the first United Nations World Peace Taekwondo Champioships held at the Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquaters.
The training camp had World Taekwondo leaders and students from 47 countries. All courses were conducted by World renowned Taekwondo GrandMasters from Kukkiwon and ChungDokwan.
The camps training consisted of physical training in the mornings, Combat Taekwondo (Self Defence), Poomsae (Patterns), Sport Taekwondo (Competition Style), and Taekwondo Martial Arts training, along with Taekwondo history & future.
After this, students visited the Taekwondowon and all stayed on to train at the World Taekwondo ChungDoKwan Federation Headquaters in Namsan, Seoul.
Later in the week, World Taekwondo Association Ireland students took part in the first World Peace Taekwondo Championships held at the World Taekwondo Headquaters in Gangnam, Seoul.
Six students from Ireland took part with all six bringing home medals, Donovan Gaffney (bronze), Davin Gaffney (bronze), Aveline Gaffney (silver), Fabian Gluszak (bronze), Phil Ivers (bronze), and Master Sheamus O’Neill (Gold).
On Saturday, 11th October, we will be hosting the Ireland Taekwondo Open 2025 at Nenagh College with visitors and teams coming from South Korea, England, France, Scotland, Portugal with more expected to be announced this week. If you would like to help sponsor this great event, contact us.
