Youghalarra NS to host golf classic and raffle

In an effort to complete their fundraising efforts for Youghalarra National Schools’ new astroturf facility, the parents’ association will be hosting a golf classic on Friday week, September 25, along with a raffle that will be drawn on October 23 in the school. There will be a wide range of prizes to be won from both fundraising events.
Exclusive First Prize with the Raffle
“There is an exclusive first prize with the raffle. It’s a VIP trip to Scotland to play a round of golf with Gordon Sherry, who is a Scottish professional golfer,” expressed Olive Slattery, on behalf of the schools parents’ association.
This prize, which could be won by anyone who enters the schools’ raffle, will include a €300 voucher for flights with Ryanair, a round of golf for three people with Gordon Sherry and accommodation for three people at a private luxury property in Troon, Scotland.
“People are amazed by the quality of the first prize in particular. It really is a prize that money can’t buy. There are a lot of golfers out there that I think would like that prize,” said Olive.
“There is a number of other great prizes to be won as well,” she highlighted, pointing out that the second prize for the raffle is an overnight stay in the Fiddle and Bow Hotel in Doolin along with many other attractive prizes to be won. Tickets for the raffle can be bought online on idonate by searching ‘Youghalarra NS Golf Classic Draw 2026’.
“One ticket is €10, five tickets is €40 and 10 tickets are €75,” explained Olive.
Golf Classic Event
“Our tee times are nearly all booked up,” expressed Olive, pointing out how there has been a great response to the school’s golf classic and that there are still some early morning tee times available.
Top prizes for this golf classic include a K Club fourball, Luttrellstown Castle Golf Club fourball, Dungarvan Golf Club fourball and Lismore Golf Club four ball.

Benefit of new Astroturf
These fundraising efforts by the school and its parents association will go towards raising money for the final payment for the schools new astroturf, which has been of great benefit to the pupils.
“It’s been a great facility. The pupils have been able to be out more, all year round. Winter and Summer. It’s been used every day for all sorts of activities such as hurling, soccer, yoga, gymnastics. They are getting great benefits out of it. It really has been such a great addition to the school,” expressed Olive.

The Parents association expressed their gratitude for the support they received for both fundraisers.
“We have reached out to lots of businesses as well for sponsorship and they have been very kind and very generous to us. We are very grateful to all of those businesses,” expressed Olive on behalf of the school and its parents’ association.
