Successful community meeting in Dolla

Silvermines Community Alert wish to thank all who attended our registration and property marking event at Silvermines GAA field, Dolla, on Saturday, September 5.

Over 100 phone numbers were registered for the new Muintir Na Tíre, An Garda Síochána-endorsed Cairde App. Leanne and Martin O’Gorman were present from Muinter Na Tíre to help and assist with setting up the app. This system will eventually replace the old text alert.

The property marking was a huge success, with tractors, cars, cow boxes, quads, bicycles, chainsaws, phones and laptops arriving to be branded by Ned Kearney from Muintir Na Tíre.

We would like to acknowledge our local Community Garda, Allison O’Connell, who gave valuable advice on home and car security to all present. Thanks to our committee who attended meetings and made the day such a success. Many thanks to those who set up the event on Saturday morning and helped with traffic control.

Thanks to our GAA club for the use of their grounds and premises, and to Tommy Hickey for the use of his premises for meetings throughout the year.
