Sun shines for Toome’ social
The sun shone on Sunday, June 14, for Toomevara's Community Summer Social held at the Parish Hall.
This fundraising event was hosted by the Toomevara Community Development Association. A huge crowd attended throughout the day to enjoy all the activities on offer. The home-made cake sale started at 12pm with tempting cakes, buns and treats to enjoy with your tea or coffee.
As the day heated up, so did the BBQ with delicious burgers and hot-dogs with all the trimmings. Families brought picnic blankets and enjoyed their freshly cooked food while relaxing and soaking up the sunshine in the green. The children enjoyed free face-painting, hair braiding and art activities in hall and a variety of fun games outside including badminton, giant Jenga & Connect 4, balance beams and a bean bag toss.
Two competitions created great discussion as people took a guess at how many balloons were in the classic tractor cab and how many sweets were in the jar. The entertainment continued into the afternoon, as the live music kicked off with the local Singers Circle leading a sing-song outside in the square and everyone sang along. The event concluded with a huge raffle with over 30 prizes donated by local businesses, trades and committee members.
The whole day was a lovely celebration of community spirit as families, friends, neighbours and parishioners gathered to support the development association and enjoy a parish summer social.
