Plan for Portroe fuel station

Tipperary Co Council has received a planning application for redevelopment of the former Gleesons’ shop and fuel station in Portroe village.

Controllo Limited is seeking to demolish the existing dwelling, shop unit, forecourt canopy and all ancillary structures within the curtilage of the site. The plan involves construction of a new replacement filling station facility comprising a single-storey service building incorporating convenience retails area, branded signage, food preparation/delicatesse, communal seating area, ancillary off-licence, ancillary post office area, customer toilet, back-of-house staff and storage accommodation. Also planned are two dispensing pump islands incorporating new forecourt canopy structure with branded signage and a remote off-island dispenser. Controllo’s plans further include erection of double-faced and internally-illuminated totem advertising signage totem; site works comprising the provision of bicycle and car parking, including electric vehicle (EV) charge points and accessible parking bay; air and water service area; widening of existing vehicular entrance; landscaping; resurfacing of existing forecourt; construction of retaining wall structures; decommissioning of existing below ground fuel storage tanks, and installation of new fuel storage tanks, associated ventilation stack and all associated and ancillary site development and infrastructure works.

A decision from the council is due by August 13.
