A fond farewell to Principal Perry

A retirement Mass was held in St Mary’s Church, Carrig, on Tuesday, June 16, to mark the retirement of Carrig National School Principal Mrs Perry Maloney following 38 years of dedicated service in primary education.

The special occasion brought together staff, pupils, parents, former colleagues, friends and members of the wider community to celebrate Mrs Maloney’s distinguished career and recognise her outstanding contribution to education in Carrig and beyond.

During the Mass, Mrs Maloney’s professionalism, leadership and unwavering commitment to the children and families of Carrig were warmly acknowledged. Her lasting influence on generations of pupils, together with the care, dedication and support she brought to every aspect of school life, were recognised with deep gratitude and appreciation.

As the school community bids farewell to Mrs Maloney, it also extends a warm welcome to its new principal, Mr Paddy Gallagher, and wishes him every success and happiness in his new role.

The school also enjoyed a fun-filled week of celebrations to mark Mrs Maloney’s retirement. Pupils and staff paid tribute through performances of songs and poems, a special This Is Your Life presentation reflecting on her years of service, and the planting of lavender in her honour as a lasting reminder of her contribution to the school community.

Carrig National School extends its sincere thanks to Mrs Maloney for her exceptional service and commitment over nearly four decades in education and wishes her every health, happiness and fulfilment in her retirement.

Go n-éirí an bóthar leat, Mrs Maloney!
