Nenagh compete well at Feile na nGael

County Feile na nGael champions Nenagh Eire Og competed strongly at Feile na nGael hosted in Carlow and Laois last Saturday.

Division 1 of twelve teams took place in the Laois Centre of Excellence in Portlaoise.

Nenagh took on Birr in their first game and started brightly but like most games all teams get their purple patch and Birr came strongly before and after half time, however, Nenagh finished much stronger with goals from David Mullarkey, Kirsters Janitens and Harry Bailey to win 3-8 to 1-8.

Birr lost to Kilmacud Crokes in game 2 of the group which set-up round three with the winner entering the Cup semi-finals and loser entering the Shield semi-finals.

Kilmacud started the brighter and Nenagh struggled to get into the game. David Mullarkey got a well-taken goal but they couldn’t close the gap with the Dublin side winning 1-11 to 1-7.

Nenagh played Dunloy Cuchulain’s in the Shield semi-final with the Antrim side winning 0-12 to 0-7. Dunloy were a physically imposing team and took their scores well.

The boys watched the rest of the competition with Naas winning the Plate final, Lismore winning the Shield final and Ballincollig winning the Cup final in a captivating final that went to extra time.

The boys gained huge experience from the day and look to take it to Derry next weekend when they take part in Feile Peil na nOg.
