Major success for Nenagh and Roscrea at AIMS Awards
Members of Nenagh Choral Society and Roscrea Musical Society travelled to Killarney to celebrate an outstanding year at the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) Awards, held at the INEC on Saturday, June 13.
Nenagh Choral Society received two nominations for its acclaimed production of Evita, earning recognition for both Best House Management and Best Programme.
Áine Long represented the society on stage in the Best Programme category in recognition of her work in producing the show programme. Úna Collins proudly represented the society’s front-of-house team in the Best House Management category. There was great excitement when Nenagh Choral Society won the Best House Management award, recognising the dedication and professionalism of the entire team.
Nenagh Choral Society members were delighted to celebrate and cheer for their friends and fellow performers in Roscrea Musical Society, who received an impressive seven nominations for their production of West Side Story.
Among those recognised was local talent Stephanie Browne, who received nominations for both Best Choreographer and Best Director. Nenagh native Paul Browne, Stephanie’s brother, earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, sharing the category with Stephanie’s partner, Cashel man Adam Skeffington, who was also nominated for the same award.
Additional nominations went to Eva McNally for Best Singer, while Roscrea Musical Society chairperson Ian Hanrahan was nominated for Best Stage Management. The production itself was also shortlisted for Best Overall Show.
The evening proved especially memorable for Stephanie Browne, who won the award for Best Choreography. Roscrea Musical Society also celebrated major success as West Side Story achieved third place in the Sullivan Section for Best Overall Show.
The awards marked a significant achievement for both societies and highlighted the exceptional talent, dedication and community spirit that continue to thrive within musical theatre in North Tipperary.
