Minor All-Ireland Final for Limerick
By Shane Brophy
It’s another trip into the lions’ den for a Tipperary team in search of an All-Ireland title. Off the back of minor and under 20 final wins in 2024 & 2025 over Kilkenny at Nowlan Park, the 2026 minors will play Limerick in the decider at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, Limerick on Saturday, 27th June at 3.00pm.
Off the back of last Saturday’s semi-finals where Tipperary rallied to beat Cork, and Limerick impressively disposed of Leinster champions Galway, it led to a debate over where the final would be played.
Speaking on TG4 after their win, Limerick manager Diarmuid Mullins suggested Ennis or the Gaelic Grounds, as the Munster Final between the sides had been played in Thurles, following a toss that went in Tipp’s favour but pertained to provincial finals only.
The Nenagh Guardian understands that another toss was proposed for venue, agreed to by Tipperary but not by Limerick. Subsequently, Tipperary manager James Woodlock made the offer to play at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, which was accepted.
The two-time All-Ireland winning minor manager isn’t afraid to challenge his players after agreeing to toss for venue for the 2024 final against Kilkenny, which they lost, but ended up being one of the great All-Ireland victories with a thirteen-man Tipperary winning, after extra time.
The Tipperary team will be familiar with the Ennis Road venue where they played the semi-final against Cork, as well as beating Limerick in the round-robin stage in Munster.
