Nenagh Classic Car Club's successful fundraiser for cancer society

The Nenagh Classic Car Club held its second annual Tipp Drive Against Cancer charity event on September 27th last. A total of well over 70 cars parked up to take part in this great charity event in which all Covid-19 guidelines were followed. Carey Glass, who co-sponsored the event, provided refreshments for drivers on arrival. Drivers who took part in the drive had an opportunity to make a donation where all proceeds went to the Irish Cancer Society.

The drive, which consisted of a tour around Lough Derg, started from Carey Glass Int., in Nenagh, passing through Portroe, into Ballina and back to Nenagh via Shannon Harbour, Portumna and Terryglass. A total of approx 80 miles was covered by a convoy of over 70 classic and vintage cars and motorbikes. This made for quite a viewing for the many onlookers we passed along the way.

The convoy was led out by our late Club President Bert Ward’s car driven by his son Paul who had his mother Mary as passenger. This was a lovely tribute to our late President who loved this particular run. As the sun beamed over us we were all taken aback by the magnificent view as we drove at a leisurely pace around the lake.

Following the run drivers were treated to some finger food and refreshments at Buddy’s Bar in Capparoe, which was sponsored by Andy's Gastro Pub. This made for the perfect end to a great day. A total of just over €1,800 was raised on the day for the Irish Cancer Society, an amazing achievement. We would like to thank all who took part in the event, all who donated and to Carey Glass and Andy’s Gastro Pub who co-sponsored the event.
