County final treble for Kelly

By Shane Brophy

Borris-Ileigh manager Johnny Kelly certainly seems to have the Midas touch.

After claiming county titles with both Portumna in Galway and Coolderry in Offaly, he completed the hat-trick by guiding Borris-Ileigh to their first Tipperary title in 33 years on Sunday.

“It’s up there with all of them,” Kelly said of this latest success.

“Every county final you win is very special. You get to know people and you get invested in a community and that is exactly what I have been with Borris-Ileigh over the last two years.

“They deserve this. It has been 33 years, a full generation of young fellas had been listening to how successful their fathers were or grandfathers were so it’s their time now and very special for them.”
