Captain Gallagher set to face star pupils

The mid-term break could have come at the right time for Joe Gallagher.

The Kiladangan captain is a secondary school teacher at Our Lady's Secondary School Templemore where two of his pupils are Kevin Maher and James Devaney who will be lining against him in this Sunday's County Senior Hurling Final.

I don't know would they listen to me now, they hardly listen to me in class,” he quipped ahead of taking them on in the County Final.

With all three players lining up in the forwards, they won't come into direct contact too often but Gallagher is full of praise for the talented duo whom Gallagher coaches as part of the Our Lady's Harty Cup team.

In fairness in terms of those two lads, the two of them hurled for us (Our Lady's) last Tuesday against Ardscoil Ris (Harty Cup),” prior to the semi-finals.

We didn't or Borris-Ileigh didn't put them under any pressure, it was up to themselves and they hurled no problem. They hurled away and it was a big help for us.”

Last week in class would have brought about some lively discussion following the semi-final victories which sees a repeat of the North Final which Kiladangan won in late September.
