Borrisokane’s quest for a Junior 'B' hurling county title was blown off course by an inspired second-half performance from Drom & Inch, who steered straight through the stormy conditions and emerged as champions for the second time in the club’s history – having last won the title in 2011.

Windswept and rain-sodden, some would argue that it was the perfect environment in which to play a Junior 'B' decider, although a battle would have probably unfolded regardless of what form the weather conditions had taken.

From a player’s perspective, the sheets of rain looked reasonably bearable, but the force of the wind – which swirled around the clubhouse-end goal and funnelled down through the pitch – was frustratingly difficult to handle. That became evident within minutes of the throw-in, as the wind dragged a number of initially promising shots away from the posts and both teams started to accumulate wides.
