Tipp relieved after surviving scare

Relief was the overriding feeling felt amongst the Tipperary team and management in the aftermath of this tight encounter and despite the lacklustre performance they will be mightily relieved to have gotten over a stubborn Clare challenge.

We’re happy with the win,” admitted Tipperary manager Shane Ronayne after the game in which his side were never really at their expected level from earlier games.

We’d be disappointed with a lot of it but I suppose we dug it out in the end.

The heads could have easily gone down after Clare scored that second goal which was really against the run of play because we were well on top at that stage.”

While the performance wasn’t up to the usual standards that Ronayne and his players have set for themselves, he acknowledged the level of intensity Clare brought to the game and the challenge they posed.

In fairness to Clare, there was a big difference today from the Munster Final,” he noted.
