Fuel Poverty Awareness Day

Across the Republic of Ireland, almost 400,000 households are affected by fuel poverty. In response to this, OFTEC Ireland has joined forces with Energy Action Ireland to raise awareness of fuel poverty across Ireland, the impact it is having on people in the local communities and pledge support to the cause.

Fuel Poverty Awareness Day, takes place this Friday (February 23rd), is the national day highlighting the severe impact fuel poverty can have in homes across Ireland. It focuses on the role that low incomes are playing in causing hardship and misery for millions of households.

OFTEC, the leading representative for the domestic oil heating and cooking industry across Ireland, wants to raise awareness of the problems faced by those struggling to keep warm in their homes and the work being undertaken to tackle the issue.

With February seeing some of the coldest weather of this year’s winter so far OFTEC has joined with Energy Action to offer advice to homeowners on low cost ways to maximise their heating:

  • Adjust your heating timers as the weather changes
