Students visited Lake Garda while on a trip to Italy.

Busy times at Nenagh College

TY CREPE MAKING CLASS

After an exciting trip to France in March this year, our Transition Year students were eager to share what they learned. They decided to host a crêpe making class for our First Year French students to show a little of what they experienced. The event was both delightful and educational, thoroughly enjoyed by all participants.

GAISCE AWARD

This year the Transition Year students are working towards achieving their Bronze Gaisce Award. In order to achieve this, the students have engaged in numerous activities, one of which was to volunteer in making Nenagh a tidy town. Becoming active citizens, they rolled up their sleeves for a litter-picking session!

FISERV VISIT

Fiserv recently welcomed Fifth Year LCVP and Sixth Year LCA students from Nenagh College to their workplace. Students experienced a day in the life of a Fiserv worker. They listened to the career journeys of several workers from different levels in the organisation.

They took part in team building exercises and enjoyed refreshments in the canteen. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Ms O’Keeffe would like to thank Fiserv and Teresa Leahy from Junior Achievement Ireland for an excellent, interactive day for all.

SCHOOL TOUR

Our TY and Fifth Year students had an early start leaving Nenagh College at 2am to catch their flight to Milan. From there we hit the road to Lake Garda: Sirmione. Students explored the town before taking a scenic boat trip taking in all the historic location along Lake Garda.

They then took a tour inside Castello Scaligero including the battlements and ramparts.

We then made our way to the hotel to check in and rest up for our tour of Venice.

Once again our students had an early start as we went to the famous city of Venice. We were treated to a water taxi trip into the city, approaching the most famous scenes from the sea and arriving in St Mark's Square.

The students learned about the city's rich history during a walking tour. They were also given a demonstration of the intricate glasswork in the showrooms of Murano Glass.

After spending some free time exploring the city for themselves we returned to our bus by water taxi. A day of great memories for all.

POETRY DAY

Celebrating Poetry Day here at Nenagh College with a wonderful recital of the Lake Isle of Innisfree by WB Yeats, read beautifully by First Year student Kacper Mikolajczyk. Kacper read this to the whole school over the intercom system.
