IRFU begin search for Head of Coach Development

The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), have commenced the process to appoint a Head of Coach Development, to drive the Union's strategy to deliver world class coaching programmes in Ireland.  

The role was created following a review of the IRFU Rugby Development programmes and to support the IRFU Strategy.
 
The Head of Coach Development will have overall responsibility for establishing and maintaining a world-class programme for the education and development of rugby coaches at all levels within Ireland, from grassroots community to performance.
 
The role demands that ongoing professional development of coaches is a key area of focus and so will the development of innovative coaching resources and the instigation of shared learning platforms and initiatives.
 
Scott Walker, IRFU Director of Rugby Development, said, 'This is an exciting new development and through this appointment we will look to enhance the resources available to develop and support coaches across the country.  The quality of our coaching has a direct impact on the quality of our game, the enjoyment of the participants and the game knowledge and skillsets a player acquires over the course of their playing career.”
