Jim Gavin headline act at Golf Education Partnership 2016

All sectors of the Irish golf industry will be represented on the day as the Golf Education Partnership returns for a second year following the success of last year’s inaugural event.

Open to all, the schedule includes educational seminars and panel discussions on the hot topics in golf. This year’s event represents a unique learning and networking opportunity for golf club managers, officers, volunteers and industry professionals.

Working Together For A Stronger Game is the major theme of this year’s Golf Education Partnership, which is being run by the Confederation of Golf in Ireland (CGI) in conjunction with the Irish Golf and Club Managers Association (IGCMA), the PGA in Ireland and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Ireland (GCSAI).

Last year Kevin Bozada, Clubhouse Manager at Augusta National Golf Club, was the star attraction as he spoke to a captivated audience about Customer Service.

This year guests will be treated to an in-depth presentation from Dublin Senior Football Manager Jim Gavin, who has broken the mould in Gaelic Football by winning three All-Irelands in four years as well as completing back-to-back victories in 2015 and 2016. Since taking charge of Dublin in 2013, Gavin has guided his native county to 12 separate titles.

Gavin will share the secrets of his success during a keynote speech that will focus on leadership in sport. After a distinguished military career with the Irish Air Corps, the 45-year-old took up his current role with the Irish Aviation Authority. Discipline, humility, honour and respect are among the key values that he has espoused during his working life and sporting career.

Each of the representative associations will present a number of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars covering topics such as Social Media, Club Governance, Increasing Profits, Unlocking Player Potential and GoGolfEurope, which is a Trans National Collaborative Partnership on sport, health and participation, and is supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
