'The Wonder Around Us' in Lorrha

An afternoon of awareness to 'The Wonder Around Us', celebrating and giving thanks for the gifts of harvest, will be held in Lorrha village on Sunday October 16th from 3pm to 5pm.

Starting from St Ruadhan’s Community Centre, the walk will go the short distance to Friar’s Park. There those in attendance will celebrate the great creation story of the universe.

This will be followed by a walk through the village, telling the story of water in Lorrha to the well where St Ruadhan is reputed to have struck the earth, whereupon a well sprung up, which was believed to have had great healing powers.

This walk will also include visits to historic sites, including the Mill, Bullaun Stones and the Domincan Abbey. We will then return to St Ruadhan’s community hall where there will be a display of the fruits of the earth.

There will also be a cup of tea and a chat on the experience of 'The Wonder Around Us'. It's hoped that this will be the first in a series of annual events highlighting how precious and vulnerable our environment and mother earth is to the destructive elements of modern-day living.

It’s also hoped that this event will help create awareness with respect to our responsibilities for the care of our environment, Mother Earth and one another. Everyone is welcome, young and old, to come along and experience 'The Wonder Around Us'. For further information, contact James: 087-2031798.
