Increased Cost of Business Grant

Tipperary Co Council has written to almost 4,500 ratepayers informing them of their eligibility for the Increased Cost of Business (ICOB) Grant.

But Head of Finance Mark Connolly told this month's meeting of Tipperary Co Council that only around 800 applications to the scheme have been made. He said the council wants to ensure that every business owner that can benefit from the scheme does so.

The grant is available to qualifying businesses as a contribution towards the rising costs faced by businesses. It is based on the value of the commercial rates bill received by an eligible business in 2023. For those with a bill less than €10,000, the ICOB grant will be paid at a rate of 50% of business' rate bill for 2023; the ICOB grant for those with a bill between €10,000 and €30,000 will be €5,000; those with a bill greater than €30,000 are not eligible.

Tipperary Co Council has written to eligible rates customers advising them of the grant and how to register. The closing date for businesses to confirm eligibility is May 1.
