News sets up Golden clash in Muzzle final at Limerick

The 2018 renewal of the Greyhound & Petworld Golden Muzzle at Limerick Greyhound Stadium has provided thrilling action at Limerick over the past fortnight and the final of this prestigious event will bring a fascinating clash between our local Derby hero Good News and the Irish St Leger winner Clonbrien Hero this Saturday.

Suffering defeat in the first round, Sandra Guilfoyle & Mary Kennedy’s 2017 Supreme Greyhound Of The Year got back to winning ways in his semi-final when producing a game battling display to reel-in the wonderful veteran Crohane Ronnie on Saturday.

Good News appeared set for a straightforward victory when well away from his Trap 3 berth as he commanded the inside when breaking faster than the afore mentioned Declan Byrne charge. However, fast early pacer Satire had matched the Pat Guilfoyle trained superstar to the bend on the outside and although it was just minor bumping between that duo upon turning, it afforded Crohane Ronnie the opportunity to rush up on their inside for a share of the lead.

At the top of the back-straight, Crohane Ronnie showed a half length in front and that would edged a touch further when tackling the third turn. Obliged to produce a challenge on the outside, Good News would have a task on his paws to wrestle the lead away from such a stout stayer over 550 yards but our local flag bearer was up to the task! A protracted tussle all the way to the line saw Good News claim a short-head victory in a thrilling contest while posting 29.91.
