The championship journey for the U20 footballers of Tipperary came an end on Saturday night at Pairc Ui Rinn.

David Power’s side were comprehensively defeated by Cork in the end. Although they couldn’t be faulted for endeavor, Tipp ultimately were second best on the evening.

Many were expecting this to be a competitive affair, especially given the progress of underage football in Tipperary in recent years. But in truth the visitors were unable to land a meaningful blow on Cork during the game and it will just now be a case of licking their wounds and start planning for the future.

“I felt the final scoreline was rough on us really at the end,” discussed Tipperary manager David Power.

“We were down to 14 men for the last fifteen minutes. But we fought very hard, we fought brave.

“I thought we missed a couple of frees maybe in the first half, where if we had converted them we might have put more pressure on Cork.

“Overall Cork were definitely the better team and there is no doubting that. But I am very happy and proud of our lads. We came down here and we were kind of written off.

“But I feel people will look at the score and it won’t tell the full story of the game. But that’s sport, that’s the way it goes,” he said.
