Tony Ryan funding for 31 Tipperary groups

Almost 12,000 people in County Tipperary are projected to benefit from the latest round of small grants awarded from the Tony Ryan Fund for Tipperary at the Community Foundation for Ireland.


A total of €120,000 was awarded to 31 not for profit organisations last week. The focus of the funding this year was 'Loving our Land' and applications were encouraged for local community garden and other growing, environment and biodiversity projects.


The Tony Ryan Fund for Tipperary was established in 2013 by the Tony Ryan Trust to give financial support to evidence-based initiatives that support children and young people in the county to reach their full potential. The core focus of the funding was to improve the life experience of children and young people living in County Tipperary.  Funding of €1.9 million was committed and disbursed over a five-year timeframe. So far the fund has awarded €1.8 million to projects in Tipperary.


Among the local recipients of 'Loving our Land' 2018 grants are: Ard Ross Residents Association (€4,000), Barnardos (€4,500), RehabCare/Newport Day Service (€2,000), Silvermines Enhancement Group (€4,000), Cloughjordan Community Farm CLG (€5,000), Irish Wheelchair Association (€3,000), Terryglass Improvements Association (€5,000), Age Friendly Roscrea (€4,140), Cloughjordan No 1 NS Garden (€2,300), Birdhill Tidy Towns Committee (€5,000), Toor Tidy Village Committee (€5,000), Conradh na Gaeilge (€4,000), Cloughjordan Arts CLG (€3,000), St Cronan's Association CLG (€5,000).

The Community Foundation for Ireland is a philanthropic organisation assisting donors with their strategic giving and supporting charities and community groups through grant making. Established in 2000, the Community Foundation for Ireland has made grants on behalf of donors of over €37 million, mostly in Ireland. They now manage over 70 funds established by individuals, families and businesses.


The total amount on endowment with the foundation stands at €45 million. Grants exceeding €6.5 million were issued by the foundation and on behalf of donors in 2017.
