Clans and Surnames workshop in Nenagh

Enough thinking! It’s time to find out who you really are.

Discover your roots at the Clans and Surnames of Ireland workshop taking place in the Great National Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh from May 15th to 19th. Leading Irish Genealogist Lorna Moloney, of Merriman Research, Roxboro Road, Limerick has organised a Clans and Surnames workshop so that you can begin to uncover what, if any, excitement lies within your family history.

The five-day event will consist of many interesting aspects. Participants will be taught many research skills as well as the ins and outs of completing a family tree. Throughout the event there will be various speakers who are experts in their fields of research.

These speakers include Patrick Guinness, heir to the Guinness throne, who will be speaking about the involvement of DNA in ancestry research. Other speakers include Kenneth Nicholls, keynote speaker, Dr Joe Mannion and many more. As well as this, there will be many exciting events taking place as part of this workshop. These include, a field trip to the Portumna Workhouse Museum, roundtable discussions of various topics and a dining experience coupled with a lecture by culinary historian Regina. Upon completion of this workshop all participants will be presented with a certificate of completion by Kenneth Nicholls.
