Green light for Roscrea nursing home development

Tipperary Co Council has granted conditional planning permission for an extension and refurbishment of Mount Carmel Nursing Home.

The plan involves construction of a new first floor extension over existing single-storey link between the existing two-storey buildings. The first floor of an existing 1990s building is to be reconfigured to create four independent living units. A reconfiguration of the oratory/chapel roof is also among the works planned by the Sisters of St Marie Madeleine Postel.

These works will be within the curtilage of Parkmore House, an original convent building, which is a Protected Structure dating from about 1820. There are currently 29 nursing home beds provided at Mount Carmel Nursing Home.
