Busy times for Ormond CCÉ

The Latest meeting of Ormond Comhaltas committee took place in The Half Door, Nenagh, on Tuesday night week last. Míle buíochas to all branch members who attended.

Congratulations to all our members who performed so well at the, Tipperary, Munster and All-Ireland Fleadhanna. Special praise must go to Jack McPartlin (1st & 2nd Pipes), Laoise Kennedy (2nd Comhrá) and Manus Heenan (3rd Singing), as well as to Bláithín Kennedy, who was part of the Craanford band who came second in the U18 band competition.

The monthly Nenagh Pastoral Centre sessions are going on the road! We are hoping to bring this very popular seisiún to different venues in Nenagh and surrounding areas over the coming year, starting off with our October seisiún in Seymour's of Portroe on October 7th at 7pm. All singers, dancers and musicians are welcome.

Liz Gaughan, Mark Forde and Laura Boland will take charge of our underage bands and grupaí ceoil for the year ahead and practice will start again in October. We look forward to another successful year and would encourage anyone who missed out last year to get involved from the start this year.

The branch also has a list of music teachers for anyone who is thinking of taking up an instrument. Please contact our committee for details or contact us through Facebook @OrmondCCE.

The Macalla na h-Éireann Comhaltas tour of Ireland takes place from October 9th - 22nd. This promises to be a fantastic show and we are proud to have one of our members, Jack McPartlin, on-stage. The branch has purchased a number of tickets and if you have an interest, please contact one of the committee. If we are oversubscribed, a draw will take place for the tickets.

Some of our younger members performed in Dún Mhuire recently as part of Culture Night. Oíche filíocht agus ceol a bhí ann leis on file Áine Ní Ghlinn. We received a great welcome from muintir Chonradh na Gaeilge. Special thanks must go to Liz Gaughan for preparing the group and to Emily Kennedy for guiding them on the night.

We are looking forward to the visit of Killeigh CCÉ in October. Anyone who travelled with us in March will remember the great hospitality shown to us by Killeigh in Tullamore last March and we are hoping to reciprocate the great welcome they gave us. Further details of this visit will be sent to members as and when it is arranged.

Our branch AGM will take place in The Half Door on October 14th at 8.30pm, followed by a few tunes in the bar. We have a very vibrant branch and are always looking for feedback and input from our members. All members are encouraged to attend the AGM, take part and make their voices heard.
