New single and gig for local band

Local band FarHaven will play at The Talbot in Nenagh this Saturday night (May 14th) in celebration of their new single.

'Where the Heart Is' is the title of the new release from the folk/pop trio, which includes Conor Fahy and Adam Grace from Nenagh and Roscrea man Eddie Simmons.

FarHaven formed two years with Conor and Eddie playing as a duo act. Adam, son of well-know local musician Ollie Grace, joined in February.

The lads have been playing covers and their own music, and they're very excited to finally get their own music out there. They've already played in a lot of college cities/towns such as Galway and Carlow, and have played two balls for Trinity in Dublin since November, along with some Nenagh gigs in both The Talbot and Kenyon. Other upcoming gigs outside of Nenagh are Thursday May 19th in Tully's of Carlow and June 10th in An Pucán, Galway.

FarHaven are influenced mainly by Irish bands/acts like Hudson Taylor, The Coronas, The Script, and Gavin James, as well as American You Tube stars Boyce Avenue.

“We love hooky tunes and live for harmony, which is very obvious in our live set,” Conor said of the FarHaven sound. “Since Adam joined, it's allowed us to make the sound of the band a lot bigger. Myself and Eddie swap over the acoustic guitar and bass and then I play a kick drum to add some percussion, and then Adam takes the lead on either the uke or the electric guitar. We all sing and do a lot of three-part harmony.”

The new single comes out this Thursday, May 12th. It will be launched both as a video and on iTunes, Spotify, etc. It's first radio play will be on Spin Southwest on Thursday. The track was produced by Nenagh soundsmith Owen Geaney, with whom the lads have been working with a view to releasing more songs in a similar fashion.

Support at this Saturday night's gig in The Talbot comes from Roscrea singer/songwriter James McKelvey. For more, see the FarHaven Facebook page.
