Roscrea library news

Summer Reading Adventure: Roscrea Library is again running a Summer Reading Programme to encourage younger readers to keep reading during the summer.

Children can register at the library desk and receive an information pack containing all the details of the programme.  Each pack contains a Summer Reading Adventure Bookmark, a Summer Reading Adventure Reading Card to keep track of the books read during the summer, and a Summer Reading Adventure Puzzle and Colouring Sheet. The aim is for each reader to read six books and, at the end of the summer, each participant will receive a medal and certificate. When readers get their Reading Card stamped the first time, they will receive a wristband. Instead of using 'leaves' to decorate our Reading Tree this year, each participant is encouraged to colour the balloon in the pack and return this to the library to decorate our Reading Tree.

Our Tree is looking very well so far, but make sure you return your balloon to add as much colour as possible to the Tree. We already have well over 200 children registered so make sure you register too! Once again this year, Bernie's Supervalu are our sponsors, and we are very grateful for their continued support with this programme. The Summer Reading Adventure is open to all children, the only condition is that they are library members! Membership for children is Free!

Caterpillar to Butterfly: Anyone who has visited the library recently will have spotted our Very Hungry Caterpillar hanging from the rafters. We are delighted to tell you that our caterpillar has now turned into a beautiful butterfly, who is overlooking the children’s section. These wonderful art pieces are thanks to librarian and artist Jane Bulfin, who works mainly in Thurles Library but also in Roscrea some days.

Poetry & Fairy Trail: The Junior Tidy Towns group recently completed a Poetry and Fairy Trail in the Library Field. There have been lots of trees planted and there are poems along the way for you to read and enjoy. There are loads of fairies to be found if you look hard enough!

Changes to lunch time opening hours: As of June 22nd the library is closed for lunch from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays.  We are open on Wednesdays from 1pm to 5 pm and 6pm to 8.30pm.

Car Park: Remember that there is a car park at the rear of the library; just head towards the fire station and turn into the left! For further information, visit us on the Birr Road, call us on 0505 22032, email us at Roscrea@tipperarylibraries.ie or visit our website at www.tipperarylibraries.ie.
