Farm to fork banquet in cloughjordan

It's been seven years since Cloughjordan Community Farm (CCF) first sowed its seeds in the fertile fields of Cloughjordan.

To celebrate National Heritage Week, they have teamed up with the Thomas MacDonagh Heritage Centre and the Makery to bring you an array of talks, craft demonstrations, and select screenings from the renowned craft documentary series 'Hands' by Sally and David Shaw Smith.
The week’s activities will kick off in the Thomas MacDonagh Heritage Centre on Saturday August 22nd, at 6.30pm, when CCF will serve a 'Farm to Fork' fundraising banquet with its freshly harvested vegetables from fields worked by horses. The dishes will be a fusion of mouth-watering traditional and modern cuisine served with a glass of rhubarb champagne.
Following this, at 8.30pm, is 'Memory Lane', the official launch of Heritage Week where, over a cup of tea, we invite you to share your memories of food from your childhood; when bread was fresh from the oven and milk straight from the cow.
On Sunday 23rd there will be traditional craft demonstrations from 12-4pm in the Makery with a pop-up café. During the week there will be screenings from the craft documentary series 'Hands', and on Friday evening and Saturday morning the Thomas MacDonagh Centre will showcase conservation work on the collection.  Saturday 29th continues with more craft demonstrations in the Makery and a talk, 'Bread – The Staff of Life', by Joe Fitzmaurice of Riot Rye Bakehouse in the Heritage Centre, followed by a guided tour of the community farm.
To end, we invite you to join us at the Heritage Centre at 8.30pm to once again ramble down 'Memory Lane' and share your childhood stories about horses working on the land, facilitated by Pat Malone of CCF.
All events are free, but donations are welcome. The 'Farm to Fork' fundraising banquet is €12; booking essential on 087-7910149. Full programme available on cloughjordanmakery.com and macdonaghheritage.ie
