Big guns flex their muscles at half way point

Nenagh Celtic continued their excellent Premier Division form with a hard fought away win over Moneygall on Sunday.

Celtic set a ferocious early pace and took the lead after fifteen minutes through Mikey Hynes. Paul Walsh chipped in with a goal on 24 minutes to double the advantage and found the net again ten minutes later to put the Nenagh side three up.

To Moneygall’s credit, they didn’t throw in the towel and pulled a goal back through Derek McLoughlin to leave the scoreline 3-1 at the break.

The second half was a tighter affair and a Jason McCormack strike fifteen minutes from the end reduced the deficit to the minimum. Celtic managed to hold on from there to take all three points to continue their assault on the top of the table.

Borroway Rovers welcomed an understrength Portumna Town to Loughtagalla Park on Sunday and secured a resounding 6-0 win to continue their own impressive title challenge.
