Silvermines undone in second half by Clonoulty

Clonoulty/Rossmore 2-20
Silvermines   1-11

Silvermines gave a good account of themselves before they ultimately fell short to a strong Clonoulty/Rossmore side in the County Senior Camogie Championship quarter final in Clonoulty on Friday evening.

The visitors had the benefit of the strong breeze in the first half and started on the front foot with Elaine Murphy to the fore, however, they didn’t take advantage of their chances, despite Eimear Murphy also playing well at centre back.

Despite playing against the elements, Clonoulty went in at half time two points in front, with the help of a goal from Casey Hennessy while Cait Devane was accurate from frees as they led 1-8 to 0-7.

The home side found their stride in the second half and has seven different scorers contributing to the twelve-point win with Eimear Loughman also to the fore at midfield.

Cait Devane scored their second goal early in the second half but Silvermines responded almost immediately from substitute Ellen Cunneen
Despite the defeat, Silvermines are a young side that are heading in the right direction and will feel they can contest strong for the league title when they take on Nenagh Eire Og in the semi-final this Saturday while Clonoulty/Rossmore meet Burgess/Duharra in the Championship semi-final on Sunday.
