Kearns frustrated that the breaks are running against his side

Tipperary manager Liam Kearns cut a frustrated figure as his side fell to what in the end was a slender defeat to Kildare last Saturday.

“We nearly got out of here with a point which we didn’t deserve,” admitted Kearns who lamented the loss of the loss with Kildare taking advantage of the breeze in the first half, running up a match-winning eight point lead at half time.

“We didn’t play well in the second half but we played well in the first half, 0-5 to 0-2, against that wind was excellent with five minutes to go but we conceded 1-2, the goal was a killer and it was then set-up for Kildare in the second half when we had to go at them, when they turned us over they missed a good few chances.

“We made a couple of substitutions and they worked really well, Liam Boland gave us 1-1 and a brilliant goal, Dan O’Meara gave us a great goal as well and we nearly stole out of here but we wouldn’t have deserved it, we know that.

“Their two scores at the end, you can’t but say they didn’t deserve to win the match with those two scores because against that wind I don’t know how they kicked them, they were unreal scores,” he said.
