Frustration over ongoing repair works in Borrisokane

The closure of the N52 in Borrisokane to repair an old culvert was raised by local councillor Joe Hannigan at last week's meetings of Tipperary Co Council and Nenagh Municipal District.
Cllr Hannigan said the closure had caused a great deal of frustration to local business people as well as school students, staff and parents.
He said the fire service had difficulty responding to a fire in a nearby field due to the closure.
"A few businesses down there are at the end of their tether," Cllr Hannigan said.
He said the council should have put a plan for the work in place sooner.
In support, Cllr Ger Darcy (FG) observed that the culvert works could go on for some time yet.
Director Marcus O'Connor said a proper traffic management system has been put in place and he thanked Borrisokane Community College Principal Matthew Carr for his understanding, as well as the parents and school bus drivers.
He said work has commenced on repairing and strengthening the culvert.
The council was fully-committed to seeing the work through as quickly as possible, said Mr O’ Connor.
