Genealogy and your computer

A course in using online resources to compile your family history will commence in Steeples, O’Rahilly St, Nenagh on Saturday February 16th.

The course will run from 9.30am – 12pm over three Saturdays and will provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to the myriad of online resources available to assist in researching your family history. Items covered will include – Organising, protecting & backing up your records; Free and fee-based resources; utilising and compiling searches; displaying, sharing and presenting your results. Each class will include comprehensive handouts on the topics covered.


The course will be presented by John Flannery, who has worked in the IT business for over 30 years. John holds a Masters degree in History of Family and Certificate in local history from University of Limerick. He is a past President of Ormond Historical Society and has acted as a consultant on 'Who do You Think You Are?' He is currently a consultant on a forthcoming TV programme on the War of Independence.

A member of Tipperary in the Decade of Revolution, he has presented talks to the Irish Georgian Society and many local history societies. Places on the course are strictly limited and prior booking is essential. For further details, call 086-2577103.
