Councillor calls for deer cull

Cathaoirleach of Nenagh Municipal District Cllr Mattie Ryan (FF) has called for a deer cull.

Speaking at the January meeting of Nenagh Municipal District, Cllr Ryan said deer are a “major problem” on roads in many parts of Tipperary. He noted that a deer cull was carried out in the Phoenix Park recently and said the same should be done in Tipperary.

Marion Carey, Senior Executive Officer with Tipperary Co Council's Environment section, said the council would write to the Dept of Agriculture about the situation.
