The cast of Tom MacIntyre's 'What Happened Bridgie Cleary': Kevin Walshe (who plays the part of Michael Cleary, Bridgie's husband), Kirsty Ryan (who plays the part of Bridgie) and Michael McMahon (who plays the part of William Simpson).

'What Happened Bridgie Cleary' - Nenagh Players

Nenagh Players are currently in rehearsal for their upcoming production 'What Happened Bridgie Cleary', written by Tom MacIntyre and directed by Donal Bray. 


'What Happened Bridgie Cleary' tells the story of a woman from the small south Tipperary community of Ballyvadlea who was burned to death by her husband Michael, who claimed she was a witch and he had tried to drive the evil spirits out of her.


Following a trial Michael, was convicted of manslaughter, and spent 15 years in prison before emigrating to England. In the play, Bridgie is united in the anteroom of Heaven with her husband and her lover, William Simpson, who are haunted by their love for her and by their participation in her death.


The Nenagh Players will present the play on Wednesday February 20th and Thursday February 21st in Nenagh Arts Centre at 8pm each night. After the performances at Nenagh Arts Centre, the group go on the drama festival circuit. 


The following are the festivals they will be attending and their performance dates: Rush, February 28th; Ballyduff, March 5th; Charleville, March 12th; Rossmore, March 15th; Claregalway, March 17th; Holycross, March 24th; Scariff, March 27th and Glenamaddy, March 30th.
