Looking forward to Newport Trad Fest this weekend

The Newport Trad Fest will take place in Newport from December 7th-9th.

The Trad Fest promises to be an exciting weekend in Newport. On Friday night, December 7th, there will be an opening concert after 6.30pm Mass in Newport Church. This concert is a free event and will feature the Thomas McDonagh Pipe Band, local choirs, musicians and dancers.

On Saturday, December 8th, music workshops will take place in Newport Community Hall featuring tuition on concertina, fiddle, button accordion, tin whistle and flute. A Trad for Teens Session will take place also on Saturday, December 8th, at 4pm in Lee's Bar.

Later that night, world renowned Irish Trad group Danú will perform in The Freigh Inn, O'Sullivans Bar. Doors open at 8pm and tickets are €15 and available from Sweeney's Shop, Newport, or through private message on the Newport Trad Fest Facebook page.

There will be organised sessions around the town over the course of the weekend. Check out the Newport Trad Fest Facebook page for further festival details and for the Pub Session Trail.

This promises to be a fantastic weekend of Irish music, song and dance with many top traditional performers visiting the village for the weekend.
