PREMIER DIVISION

Aisling Annacotty 4-1 Nenagh AFC

Nenagh AFC suffered another setback in the Premier League as they went down 4-1 to second placed Aisling Annacotty on Saturday night.

The hosts made a bright start but fell behind after seven minutes when former Nenagh player Nikodem Kozlowski put the hosts in front.

Nenagh responded well and were level after 26 minutes when Dan O’Meara found the net. However, Aisling regained the lead before half-time when Conor Coughlan converted from the penalty spot to give the home side a 2-1 advantage at the break.

Aisling extended their lead after 64 minutes when Sean Ezekannagha scored and despite battling to get back in the tie, Nenagh conceded a fourth five minutes from time through sub Cathal Downes.

The result leaves Nenagh with six points from seven games and searching for a break that might kickstart their season.

Nenagh AFC: Carl Williams; Saeed Ryan; Colm Hayden; Kieran Barr; N Mathewebo; Conor Hanniffy; Daniel Connolly; Tarla Doris; Matt O'Gorman; Dan O'Meara; Kieran O'Brien. Subs: Brian Tracey; Aaron Mitchell; Mark McKenna; K McDonald.

LOWER LEAGUES

In the Premier ‘A’ League, Newport Town suffered a surprise defeat, going down 3-1 to Summerville Rovers which saw them fall out of the promotion places.

James Collopy scored for the home side but a double from Jamie Cross and one from Conor O'Leary gave Rovers the points.

In Division 1A, Conor McKeown gave Nenagh AFC ‘B’ the lead at Cappamore, but the home side responded with four goals to win 4-1.

Newport Town ‘B’ fell 2-0 at home to Granville Rovers in Division 1B but Newport’s ‘C’s won again and continue to lead the table. They beat Corbally United 5-3 with goals from John Ryan and Christy Doyle with two apiece and Hughie McGuire.

Munster Under 17 Cup

There was little to separate Ardcroney and Ballynanty Rovers in a dramatic Munster Under 17 Cup encounter which finished 3-3 after extra-time, with Ballynanty eventually edging a marathon penalty shoot-out 7-6.

Ballynanty made the brighter start and took the lead from the penalty spot after ten minutes, with D. Fitzgerald converting.

Ardcroney responded strongly and were level after 21 minutes when J. O’Meara found the net, with E. Crowe providing the assist.

The visitors regained the lead on 40 minutes through C. Costelloe, but the home side struck back in added time at the end of the first half when R. McLoughney scored to leave the sides level at 2-2 and just before the interval both teams were reduced to ten players.

After the restart, Ballynanty were awarded another penalty after 49 minutes and Fitzgerald converted to move back in front. Ardcroney refused to surrender and drew level again on 63 minutes when J. O’Meara scored his second, this time with S. O’Meara supplying the assist.

Neither side could find a winner so to penalties where the visitors kept their nerve to progress.

There was another comfortable win for Lough Derg, who defeated Borrisokane 5-0. R O’Callaghan, R McCoole, A Flynn, O Shanahan, and M Jugowiec were all on target in an impressive display.

Nenagh AFC advanced after a convincing 6-1 win over Cappamore. Jamie Ryan scored twice, while Alex McKenna, Maab Mohmed, H O’Gorman, and Tarla Doris were also on the scoresheet. Tommy O’Leary scored Cappamore’s goal.
