Shinty-Hurling/Camogie internationals heading to Cork in 2026

The GAA, Camogie Association, Camanachd Association and Women’s Camanachd Association have confirmed that the Shinty-Hurling International will take place in Cork in 2026.

Following the highly successful collaboration between the Camanachd Association, GAA, Camogie Association and Women’s Camanachd Association, the men’s and women’s international fixtures will once again be staged together as part of a showcase of the Celtic world’s most distinctive sporting traditions.

This year, the annual contest returns to Ireland, with Cork’s iconic SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh set to host the international double-header on Saturday 24 October.

The women’s Shinty-Camogie International will begin at 4pm, before the men’s Shinty-Hurling International takes place at 6pm.

Over the coming weeks, selectors on both sides of the Irish Sea will face the difficult task of narrowing an exceptional pool of talent into four squads of 19 players. Those selected will have the honour of representing their respective sports and countries in one of the most unique international fixtures in world sport.

The contests bring together the shared skills, traditions and heritage of shinty, hurling and camogie, while giving leading players the rare opportunity to test themselves under the combined international rules format.

Camanachd Association National Development Manager Ronald Ross said: “We are delighted to reaffirm our partnership with the GAA and our colleagues in Camogie and the Women’s Camanachd Association, allowing our shared Celtic sports to once again be showcased on the international stage.

“SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh is a fantastic venue for these matches, and we are extremely grateful to the GAA and Cork County Board for hosting us. The international series has always been about fierce competition on the field and strong friendships away from it, and we look forward to renewing those ties with our friends across the Irish Sea in October.”

I am delighted that our hurlers and camógs will get that chance in 2026 when the Hurling-Shinty and Camogie-Shinty internationals take place at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh."
