Tipperary Athletes shine at Scottish Championships

Three talented Tipperary athletes enjoyed outstanding success at the Scottish Under 18 Track & Field Championships in Aberdeen over the weekend, with all three athletes securing podium finishes.

Coming home with gold is Terryglass native Jack Tierney who produced a superb personal best of 58.28m to claim the title. The performance represents another significant milestone in what is proving to be an exciting season for the young Borrisokane athlete.

Also representing Borrisokane AC was Emily Stapleton who produced an excellent performance in the U18 Hammer, finishing in second place with an impressive throw of 49.16m.

There was further Tipperary success in the U18 Long Jump where Aine Frawley of Nenagh Olympic AC secured a fine second-place finish. Frawley jumped 5.27m to take the silver medal following a strong performance in a competitive field.

The three podium finishes represent an excellent weekend for Tipperary athletics, with athletes from Borrisokane AC and Nenagh Olympic AC making their mark on the international stage in Aberdeen.

With a Scottish championship title, a new personal best and two silver-medal performances, it was a weekend to remember for Stapleton, Tierney and Frawley and a further indication of the strength of young athletics talent coming through in Tipperary.
