Innovative exhibition by Aishling Martin

Nenagh Arts Centre is currently showcasing ‘Glittering Eye’, a new exhibition by artist Aishling Martin.

Featuring a series of drawings, paintings and collages, ‘Glittering Eye’ explores themes of value, transformation and perception through the careful observation and reimagining of everyday materials.

At the heart of the exhibition are objects that might otherwise be overlooked or discarded. Fragments, scraps and found materials are gathered, arranged and transformed, their significance shaped by personal associations, place and myth. Through this process, Martin invites viewers to consider how meaning can emerge from the ordinary and how seemingly insignificant elements can take on new life when viewed from a different perspective.

The exhibition's drawings examine the visual relationships between collected objects, exploring how individual fragments interact and combine to suggest new forms. In the paintings and collages, ideas of light, transformation and the sublime come to the fore. Dust and debris are incorporated directly into the paint surface, while luminous colour palettes evoke natural light, theatrical illumination and the transformative qualities of cosmetics and adornment.

Through an evocative interplay of materials, colour and composition, ‘Glittering Eye’ encourages audiences to look more closely at the world around them, revealing beauty, possibility and wonder within the overlooked and everyday.

Admission is free. The exhibition runs is currently underway and runs until July 31 during gallery opening hours at Nenagh Arts Centre.
