Dublin suspect charged in Tipp

A Dublin man arrested following an operation involving Tipperary gardaí was convicted of drug offences at Nenagh Circuit Criminal Court.

Thomas Wall (28) of Fortunestown Crescent, Tallaght, appeared before the court after gardaí executed a search warrant his home on September 17, 2024. Prosecution counsel Ed O’Mahoney told the court that the search was carried out as part of “an investigation into more serious matters”.

The gardaí found cocaine valued at €300 and cannabis worth €20. Mr Wall admitted to ownership of the drugs and said he smoked cannabis during the week and used cocaine at weekends. He was charged in Thurles.

The defendant had previous convictions for drugs, public disorder and road traffic offences but had not come to garda attention since the incident in question.

Defence counsel Kenneth Kerins established that there was no evidence to suggest that Mr Wall was drug dealing and he displayed “no trappings of wealth”. The defendant was not working and hoped to emigrate.

Judge Catherine Staines fined him €200.
