Enrolment into First Year for September 2027
We are receiving a large number of enquiries re admissions to St Joseph's CBS Nenagh. We would like to inform all parents and guardians that we do not start accepting applications for the 2027-2028 school year until Monday, November 2. It is only from this date that the application form will go live on our school website at cbsnenagh.com The school shall cease accepting applications for admission on Friday, December 11.
We are delighted that increasing numbers of parents decide to send their sons to school at St Joseph’s CBS Nenagh in recognition of the rounded education, personal and social development that students undergo here at Nenagh CBS.
The demand for places at St Joseph's CBS Nenagh has increased so much over the last number of years. Traditionally, we had four base classes and had to increase that to five base classes for three academic years running before increasing to six base classes in more recent years.
Teaching staff member on RTÉ’s The Late Late Show
Well done to our very own member of the teaching staff, Mr Michael Breen, and his partner, renowned athlete, Sharlene Mawdsley, who gave an insight into their busy lives in an interview with Patrick Kielty on The Late Late Show. The couple spoke about being each other's biggest supporters despite their demanding training and competition schedules. Their competitive spirit was on full display during an abseiling challenge from the Hogan Stand, filmed earlier that day, with just centimetres separating the pair at the finish!

First Year A Hurling Final Defeat
Our First Year hurlers had a fantastic experience representing Nenagh CBS in the County A Final against Thurles CBS in Semple Stadium. The boys headed into the game full of excitement and enthusiasm, and despite having only a few weeks of training together, they showed tremendous teamwork and determination throughout. Some excellent scores were taken by Rory Fitzgerald, Donnacha Murray, Daniel Sherlock, Donagh Farrell and Tom Ryan. With the sides level at 1-4 apiece at half-time, it was all to play for in the second half. The boys continued to battle hard. Heading into the final minute, the teams were once again level, but Thurles CBS managed to get the crucial late scores to secure the victory. While the result didn’t go our way, the boys can be extremely proud of their performance.
A sincere thank you to Paudie Malone and all the Tipperary Games Development coaches for organising the blitzes throughout the year. We would also like to thank the Tipperary Post Primary Schools Committee and Tipperary County Board for making this memorable occasion in Semple Stadium possible. A special word of thanks also to Ms England and Ms O’Reilly for organising and accompanying our First Year supporters to the match.
Library Studies
Our First Year Library Studies class enjoyed a great visit to Nenagh Library on Monday. Thank you to Nenagh Library who worked with us to ensure each of the boys were signed up as library members and had their new membership cards ready for them on arrival. The boys had the opportunity to borrow books during their visit, learn how to use the various library services and see the 3D printer in action. A special word of thanks to Aoife for giving the boys such an engaging tour and showing them just how much their local library has to offer. Library Studies is a rotating module in First Year, ensuring that every First Year student will have the opportunity to visit the library, become a member and learn what a super service it is. Thanks to Ms Emily Kinsella for organising the visit.
A spooky twist in the crea
tive arts department for Halloween
Our Fifth Year students have been developing their sketching and CAD skills through skull sketching and SolidWorks pumpkin assignments. Well done boys and thanks to their teacher Mr Niall Quigley for his guidance. St Patrick’s Class were busy with pumpkin designs in the Art room under the guidance of Ms. Niamh Toohey.
Christmas Walkathon on December 11
Thank you to everyone that has contributed to the walkathon fundraiser, a joint initiative between CBS Primary School Nenagh and St Joseph's CBS Nenagh. We are asking all families to check Tyro or Aladdin for access to your fundraising link. We would be delighted if each family then shares their unique fundraising link in their family or work WhatsApp group and/or their social media platforms. All proceeds from the walkathon will go towards two exciting projects: the development of a new astro playing pitch and the development of the monastery building.
Nuacht na Seachtaine
Ar an 10ú Deireadh Fómhair bhí an oscailt oifigiúil againn san ostán Abbey Court agus chuireamar tús leis an Siúlathon nó an Walkathon a bheidh againn sa scoil ar an 11ú mí na Nollag. Bhailigh slua mór idir múinteoirí, daltaí agus polaiteoirí chun tacaíocht a thabhairt don feachtas. Táimid go léir ag tnúth go mór leis. Bhí an fhoireann iománaíochta sa chéad bhliain ag glacadh páirte sa chluiche ceannais Corn Uí Chatháin. Bhí siad ag imirt i Staid Semple. Lá iontach a bhí ag gach duine agus b'iontach an gaisce é. Ar an Déardaoin bhuaigh an fhoireann Dean Ryan an chéad babtha eile sa sraith. Sár- chluiche a bhí acu i gcoinne mheánscoil na mBriathre Chríostaí, Caiseal. An scór deiridh a bhí ann ná 2-21 in aghaidh 1-17.
