Biodiversity Week continues in Cloughjordan
Biodiversity week continues in Cloughjordan with a wonderful variety of free events organised by a collaboration of local groups.
On Thursday 21st Cloughjordan Cine Club hosts Listen to the Land Speak by Manchán Magan in Thomas MacDonagh Museum. This stunning watch, full of dramatic, star-soaked cinematography was filmed over four seasons, by the much-loved film-maker.
Saturday 23rd gets off to a very, very early start with a Dawn chorus walk with Dr Alex Copland at 4:00am, meeting at Scohaboy Bog carpark, organised by Cloughjordan Community Development Association.
Later, on Saturday afternoon, Dr Su Huschke leads a medicinal walk in the ecovillage entitled: ‘The medicines are growing right under our feet!’
On the final day of Biodiversity Week, Sunday 24th, the local forest school leaders are hosting a Forest school inspired nature based activities for children from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Cuan Beo Polytunnel, Cloughjordan Ecovillage.
They will guide an exploration of nature and wildlife and will then craft with some of the items that we have found or been inspired by on our journey. Children must be accompanied by an adult; aimed at children from 5 -10 years old but siblings are welcome.
At the same time on Sunday 24th two scientists who are involved in survey work at Scohaboy bog, Rob Gandola and Dr Jan Robert-Baars, invite people to explore The hidden life of the Ballyfinboy river. Meet at the Thomas MacDonagh Memorial Garden on the Nenagh Road.
All welcome to these events which are about getting out in nature and having fun.
