New sponsor for Shinrone United as they race for the title

On Sunday, the NT&DL Premier Division title race comes to an end as Shinrone United play BT Harps in Shinrone. Sunday is a very important day for the club, as it’s their first time ever being in the running to top the Premier Division.

Declan Mullally, Chairman of Shinrone United and manager of the team, explains. “We secured promotion to the Premier Division with a massive showdown against Moneygall for the First Division title in April 2025, and so far this year, we have played eight matches in the Premier Division, winning six of these. It’s a massive step up this year, but we’re holding our own.”

The players and management were delighted to receive sponsorship of half zips from Dovida, Ireland’s largest home support provider. The team has two Dovida staff members amongst them – Conor O’Sullivan, a talent acquisition specialist based in Sandyford, Dublin and DJ McLoughlin, working in business development in Dovida Midlands. Dovida also provides local employment to many caregivers in the Shinrone area and is actively recruiting in the area.

The club has also been boosted by the formation of a new committee this year to ensure that the club continues to go from strength to strength. Without the volunteers who give up their time, the club would not be able to continue to field so many teams at all ages and levels within the parish.

There is also a huge commitment among the squad, with some of the premier Shinrone United players giving decades of service on the field. Secretary Serena Parkinson said, “We would like to thank the players, management, the committee and all our sponsors for their efforts to support the club, and we wish the team all the best on Sunday”.

Kick-off is Sunday, against BT Harps in Shinrone Soccer Field at 11am.
